Canada 150 Silk Bamboo and Maple Music Festival

The BC Chinese Music Association (BCCMA) is proud to celebrate Canada 150 and to announce the first ever – Canada 150 Silk Bamboo and Maple Music Festival featuring two orchestra concerts the BC Chinese Orchestra (BCCO), and Silk Bamboo and Maple Festival Orchestra, plus a free panel discussion on the Chinese Instrumental Music in Canada at the Vancouver Playhouse on May 20-21, 2017 all under the direction of guest conductor Chih-Sheng Chen of Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra from Taiwan and Peggy Hua, resident conductor of the BCCO. The Festival also features visiting guest musicians from Chinese Canadian music organizations fromacross Canada. May 20, 2017–Saturday 8:00 PM: B.C. Chinese Orchestra Concert Venue: Vancouver Playhouse 600 Hamilton Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 2P1 Guest Soloists: Sarah Tan (Guzheng concerto), Charlie Lui (Dizi concerto), Tim Chan (Sheng concerto) Conductor: Dr. Chih-Sheng Chen, Peggy Hua. BCCO with over 50 members has since 1997 promoted Chinese instrumental music culture in association with professional conductors and musicians to develop the artistic standards for the music community in Canada.
