Amber Chen 陳姿珺

Amber Tzu-Chun Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She began her formal music education at the age of five, studying piano and classical percussion. Her musical journey continued through gifted music programs in elementary and high school. She then pursued a Bachelor of Music degree in the Department of Music at Soochow University, a prestigious private university in Taiwan. After graduating, Amber furthered her studies at the Royal Antwerp Conservatoire in Belgium, earning a Master of Music degree with distinction. She continued her advanced studies at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, Belgium (now known as LUCA School of Arts), where she obtained both a Master of Arts in Music and a Master after Master degree in Music.

She lived in Europe for a decade from 2008 to 2018. During this period, she also co-founded Newton’s Apple Culture (vzw), a cultural organization where she led the planning and coordination of multicultural activities and concerts, establishing partnerships with institutions including the Chinese Embassy and the Taiwanese Representative Office in Belgium.

 
 

She was awarded first prize for solo marimba at the European Music Competition in Italy (2011). She has been actively involved in numerous projects as a member of several ensembles, including the Flanders Marimba Ensemble (Belgium), The Bracket Percussion Ensemble (Belgium, as a guest member), the 3E Youth Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan, as a guest solo timpanist), Mixed&United Theatre (Belgium), Mexico Show, and Sambasores (Spain).

From 2014 to 2018, she co-founded the percussion duo “Equilibri” with Julianna Kamila Siedler (PL) and performed around Europe. During the same period, she also collaborated with percussionist Ka-Wei Chronicle Li (HK), performing around Asia.

In 2022, Amber moved to Canada, where she is currently engaged in a diverse range of musical activities. In addition to teaching percussion and piano, she performs as a percussionist with the BC Chinese Music Orchestra, the BC Chinese Music Ensemble, and 240 Northern, collaborating with other Vancouver-based ensembles such as the Redshift Music Society and Hitmen. She also serves as a piano accompanist for local choirs, student competitions, and music examinations.

Amber is equally dedicated to music education. Her teaching expertise extends to classical percussion, piano, music theory, accompaniment, and choral work. Her goal is to nurture a love for music in her students and contribute to the creation of an art-friendly environment that fosters artistic growth and appreciation.

 

Amber Tzu-Chun Chen(陳姿珺)出生於台灣台北。她五歲開始接受正規音樂教育,學習鋼琴與古典打擊樂,並在中小學階段持續參與音樂資優班課程。她先後取得台灣東吳大學音樂學士、比利時皇家安特衛普音樂學院音樂碩士(優異榮譽),以及比利時魯汶音樂學院(現更名為LUCA魯汶藝術大學)的音樂藝術碩士與音樂表演最高級學位。

她于2008年至2018年間旅居歐洲長達十年。在此期間,她和友人共同創立了非營利文化組織Newton’s Apple Culture (vzw),並主導策劃及協助多元文化活動和音樂會,與包括中國駐比利時大使館及台北駐比利時代表處在內的多家機構建立了合作夥伴關係。

她曾榮獲2011年意大利歐洲音樂大賽木琴獨奏首獎,並以成員身份積極參與多個音樂團體的演出,包括:比利時法蘭德斯馬林巴合奏團、比利時Bracket打擊樂團(客席)、台灣3E青年愛樂交響樂團(客席定音鼓手),以及比利時Mixed&United劇團、西班牙Sambasores樂團等。

2014年至2018年間,她與波蘭打擊樂家Julianna Kamila Siedler共同創立打擊樂二重奏“Equilibri”,並在歐洲多地巡演;同期她也與香港打擊樂手李珈維合作,在亞洲地區開展演出活動。

2022年,Amber移居加拿大,持續從事多元音樂事業,除教授鋼琴與打擊樂外,也擔任BC中樂團、華夏中樂團及240 Northern等樂團打擊樂手,並與溫哥華Redshift Music Society、Hitmen等團體合作。她也為當地合唱團、學生比賽與音樂考試擔任鋼琴伴奏。

Amber同樣致力於音樂教育,擅長古典打擊樂、鋼琴、音樂理論、伴奏與合唱指導,致力於培養學生對音樂的熱愛,推動營造親近藝術的社會環境,促進藝術發展與欣賞。
