The BC Chinese Orchestra (BCCO), a flagship ensemble of the BC Chinese Music Association, is a 50-member orchestra that was established in 1995. Since its inception, the orchestra has performed at prominent venues throughout the Vancouver Lower Mainland, including the Chan Centre, Vancouver Playhouse, Gateway Theatre, and Michael J. Fox Theatre.

As one of the largest Chinese music communities in North America, our mission is to bring together music enthusiasts, professionals, and hobbyists. We are committed to promoting Chinese music and culture in our society, and we firmly believe in the importance of diversity and equality, as these values are at the core of our organization. With members from diverse backgrounds, we strive to create a harmonious and inclusive environment where musicians can enjoy the process of musical learning and creation.

In addition to sharing Chinese music and culture, we also aim to diversify our repertoire and provide platforms for Canadian composers to incorporate multicultural elements into our music. We regularly invite international soloists and conductors to work with the ensemble, enhancing our musicality while introducing Canadian premieres and expanding our repertoire.

Under the leadership of Conductor Jin Zhang, who began his tenure in 2025, the BCCO actively participates in annual Lunar New Year festivals and charity events. These activities provide opportunities for the community to showcase the heritage of Chinese music and culture. This allows Chinese communities to appreciate and sustain their own culture and music as they continue to thrive within Canada’s multicultural framework.

 

BC華樂團（BC Chinese Orchestra）是BC中華音樂協會的旗艦樂團，成立於1995年，擁有50多名團員。自創立以來，樂團已在溫哥華低陸平原地區多個重要場館演出，包括陳氏演藝中心、溫哥華劇院、Gateway劇院及Michael J. Fox劇院。

作為北美最大的華樂社區之一，我們致力於凝聚音樂愛好者、專業人士及業餘演奏者，並以推廣華樂與中華文化為使命。我們堅信多元與平等的重要性，這些價值是我們組織的核心。團員來自不同背景，我們致力於營造和諧共融的環境，讓音樂家在學習與創作的過程中盡情享受。

除了推廣華樂與文化，我們也致力於拓展曲目，並為加拿大作曲家提供平台，將多元文化元素融入我們的音樂中。我們定期邀請國際獨奏家及指揮至樂團，提升樂團的音樂表現，同時引進加拿大首演作品，豐富演出內容。

自2025年起，樂團由指揮兼藝術總監張進（Jin Zhang）領導。在他的帶領下，BC華樂團積極參與每年度的農曆新年慶典及慈善活動，為社區提供展示華樂與中華文化遺產的機會。這不僅讓華裔社區在加拿大多元文化的推動下欣賞並傳承自身文化與音樂，也促進華樂在本地持續蓬勃發展。
